Shri Vaishnav College of Commerce, Indore was established on 1st August 1967 with the objective of providing commerce education among the poor and educationally backward class. At certain extend it is true today also because a large number of students come to this college from the remote places, peripheries and near by villages and at the same time because of its quality education this college has become first choice of elite class and meritorious students also.

The college staff is more concerned about students learning which is evaluated by regular class test, interaction with student’s, assignments. To assess his preparation for final exams college conducts a pre university exam. It is based on the university annual exam pattern. After evaluation the answer sheets are returned to the students.

In the beginning of the session teachers provide information about various professional courses, competitive exams and jobs so that student can prepare themselves along with their regular studies. Guest lectures by experts are organized to update their knowledge and improve their overall personality. To keep the college linked with the changing pace, It has introduced B.Com. (Honors) and five vocational courses – B.Com.- Computer Application, B.Com.- Tax Procedure and Practice, B.Com.- Office Management and Secretarial Practice, B.Com.- Foreign Trade Procedure and Practice and B.Com.- Advertisement and Sales Management.

The college is conducting various cultural activities like dance, music, laughing show, dramas and play. So that students can develop their overall personality.

To promote commerce education college management has appointed devoted faculties who have good academic record with sound subject knowledge and excellent communication skills because a teachers duty is not only to teach the student but to make sure that how much he (a student) has learned in the classroom.

Head of the department and subject teachers sit together and make a teaching plan well in advance which every teacher has to follow so that in all the sections course will be complete with in the scheduled time. This teaching plan is maintained by every teacher, which is fortnightly checked by the respective heads. HOD’s and principal take the round daily during teaching hours. They inspire students to attain the classes regularly.

College management always believes that faculty development programmes will certainly help the faculties to update themselves and with their knowledge students will be benefited. Every year college management organizes FDP’s and for such programmes they call eminent personalities to deliver the lectures. This programmes goes for a month after the university exams are over. College management encourages teachers to do their best in academic growth and research work.

The College has an excellent infrastructure, it comprises of different blocks with adequate classrooms, which can accommodate around two thousand students at one time. The College has one computer lab for the students and the time slots for the lab is arranged in such a manner that students can get maximum benefit out of it. During the college hours all the classrooms are engaged and no room is lying vacant. College has a very rich and spacious library. Academic environment in the college is very good and teachers encourage the students to do their best in academics as well as in co-curricular activities. The College has a large playground for the outdoor activities.
